About B Cellars

B Cellars is the most food-focused winery in Napa Valley, a place where the culinary experience is not an add-on to the tasting but the entire point. Founded in 2003 by Jim Borsack and Duffy Keys, the winery was built around the belief that wine exists to make food better and vice versa. The estate includes a professional kitchen at the center of the property where guest chefs and the in-house culinary team prepare multi-course meals designed to demonstrate how wine and food interact, elevate, and transform each other at the table.

The estate is modest at 10 acres, but the wines are sourced from some of Oakville's most prestigious vineyard sites, giving winemaker Kirk Venge access to fruit that would be the envy of much larger operations. Venge, son of legendary winemaker Nils Venge (the first American to receive a 100-point Parker score), brings a family pedigree and a personal sensibility that favors balance and food-friendliness over sheer power. The vineyard sources include Beckstoffer To Kalon, Dr. Crane, and other iconic Napa addresses.

Kirk Venge produces a range of wines that are crafted with the table in mind. The Cabernets and red blends have the concentration that Napa is known for but maintain the acidity and structure necessary to pair with rich food without overwhelming the palate. The Chardonnay is fermented and aged in a style that complements rather than competes with cuisine. Each wine in the portfolio is essentially designed as a food-pairing partner first and a standalone sipper second, an approach that produces wines of unusual versatility and drinkability.

The tasting experience at B Cellars is built around food in a way that no other Napa winery matches. The signature experience pairs a flight of wines with a multi-course tasting menu prepared in the open kitchen, with the chef explaining the reasoning behind each pairing. Visitors can also participate in hands-on blending sessions, cooking classes, and chef's table dinners. The outdoor kitchen and garden create a setting that feels more like a culinary retreat than a traditional winery visit. The price point is higher than average, but the experience justifies every dollar.

B Cellars matters because it challenges the assumption that wine tasting must be about the wine alone. By centering food in the experience, the winery demonstrates what wine professionals have always known: that wine reveals its true character at the table. For visitors who have spent a day sipping wine in isolation, a visit to B Cellars is a revelation that resets the palate and reminds them why wine was invented in the first place.
