About Signorello Estate

Signorello Estate is a Stags Leap District property that was devastated by the 2017 Atlas Peak wildfire and rebuilt from the ground up, emerging from the ashes as a testament to the resilience of Napa Valley's winemaking families. Originally founded in 1977 by Ray Signorello Sr., the estate's 42 acres of Stags Leap District vineyard survived the fire, but the winery building and its inventory were completely destroyed. The rebuilt estate, now operational, produces wines that carry the weight of both the terroir and the story of survival.

The 42-acre vineyard on the Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District emerged from the 2017 fire with its vines largely intact, though the winery and tasting room were destroyed. The volcanic soils and palisade-influenced microclimate continue to produce Cabernet and Chardonnay of the appellation's signature elegance and power. The rebuilding has given the estate modern facilities while honoring its 40+ year history.

Winemaker Pierre Birebent produces estate wines from the recovered vineyard. The Padrone Cabernet is the flagship, dark and structured with Stags Leap District elegance. The Chardonnay is barrel-fermented and complex. Each bottle from the post-fire vintages carries the emotional weight of a family that chose to rebuild rather than walk away.

Tastings are by appointment at the rebuilt estate. The $75 fee includes wines and a setting that represents both destruction and renewal.

Signorello matters because the 2017 fire and the family's decision to rebuild embody the resilience that has defined Napa Valley through every challenge from phylloxera to Prohibition to wildfire. The wines from the recovered vineyard taste of survival.
