About Neyers Vineyards

Neyers Vineyards is a label founded by Bruce Neyers, who served as national sales director for Joseph Phelps Vineyards for over two decades before launching his own winery in 1992 to produce the balanced, food-friendly wines that his decades in the industry had taught him were the most satisfying to drink. The experience of selling wine to America's finest restaurants shaped Neyers' palate: he understood what sommeliers wanted, what chefs needed, and what made a wine earn its place on a wine list rather than in a collector's cellar.

The estate includes 28 acres of vineyard alongside long-term sourcing relationships with growers across Napa and Sonoma counties. The portfolio spans Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Merlot, each produced in a style that prioritizes food-friendliness and balance. The sourcing draws from both warm and cool sites, reflecting Neyers' belief that great wine should match the diversity of the American table.

Winemaker Tadeo Borchardt produces wines that embody the Neyers philosophy: moderate alcohol, bright acidity, restrained oak, and flavors that complement food rather than compete with it. The Chardonnay is one of the most restaurant-friendly in the valley, balanced and versatile. The Cabernet is structured but not heavy. The Syrah shows cool-climate character. Each wine is designed for the dinner table.

Tastings are available in St. Helena, with the food-friendly philosophy evident in every pour. The $55 fee includes a portfolio that many sommeliers consider among the most versatile in the valley.

Neyers matters because Bruce Neyers' restaurant-industry experience produced a winemaking philosophy that prioritizes drinkability over impressiveness, a distinction that sounds simple but that most producers fail to achieve. The wines are for drinking, not for storing, and they are better for it.
